Egmond aan Zee September 14th 2008
This is a press release for the First play off tournament, the Champions League of Darts held at Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee on 13 September. Hotel Zuiderduin, DDT Events and the Dutch Darts Bond (NDB) create with this event a chance for Dutch darts players to compete on world events like the Zuiderduin Masters and Winmau World Masters.
At First the player had to play in events organised by the member organisation of the NDB and all the winner played the play off yesterday in hotel Zuiderduin, the main sponsor.
In this release you will find some details over the 5 events (3 for the Youth and 2 for the senior players) and pictures of the winners of these events. Text and photo are free for publication. On the pictures you see from left to right; Lynn Poolen, winner girl’s event, Henny van der Ster men champion, Rilana Erades winner of the women event, junior champion Jeffrey Stigter and young boys champion Sven Groen.
The wildcards for the top 24 darts event in December, the Zuiderduin Masters went to Henny van der Ster and Rilana Erades, also the earned a ticket for the Winmau World Master.
Sven Groen was the winner of the boys under 14 event, in this final he beat Jordy Frits 4-0. Sven won as prize a VIP arrangement for 3 for the top 24 event in December, the Zuiderduin Master.
Girl’s winner Lynn Poolen, she came back from 2-0 down. But Christel Timmermans her opponent lost the next 4 legs and became Lynn the winner of the ticket for the Winmau World Masters In the boy’s event Jeffrey Stigter was the winner he beat Benito van de Pas by 2-0 in sets. Every set Jeffrey came back from 2-0 down winning the sets 2-3. Also Jeffrey won a big cup and a sponsored ticket for the Winmau World Masters.

Rilana Erades had to play Karin ten Kate, and Priscilla Groeneweg, on her way to the final. Not an easy way to go but Rilana was superior that day. Also in the final other Dutch international player Floortje van Zanten could not stop Rilana and lost 2-0 in sets. For Rilana was the prize a ticket for the first ever ladies event at the Zuiderduin Masters and a ticket for the Winmau where she also has he chance to win a ticket for the Lakeside World Pro.
Dutch International player Henny van der Ster won the men event. He best Dutch player Jan Karel in a very exiting final. Henny had the day of his life beating players as Dick van Dijk and Arjan Moen (5-0 and 4-0). In the final Jan Karel was at first the better player. But Jan, at deciding moments, could not hit the double and every time Henny took the chance to equalise the match. In the 5th and deciding set het came for the same reason back to 2-2 in legs, and leg 5 was de deciding leg. Again Jan had match darts but could not hit the double and Henny after two missed match darts hit the third and took the title. For Henny the same prizes as Rilana, only he will compete in the top 24 men of the Zuiderduin Masters.

The First edition was a great success together with players and spectators up to 600 people where in the Zuiderduin room to see great darts, in a very good atmosphere. Also at the after party lots off players and spectators had fun in hotel Zuiderduin.
